Miguel Ángel Rojas
Miguel Ángel Rojas' work is based on the exploration of the real world: he has approached a multiplicity of topics such as sexuality, ecology, the phenomenon of drug trafficking and its repercussions.
His critical and evocative gaze has led him to denounce the causes and consequences generated by the armed conflict in the marginalized communities of Colombia, the damage in the territories caused by extractive companies -legal and illegal-, and the war on drugs.
He has also addressed self-referential themes through the development of proposals that have allowed him to delve into a critical and intimate introspection of his being, in a quest to reaffirm himself as an individual.
Miguel Ángel Rojas understands the processes in the construction of the work as the very essence of it. For this reason, the strong relationship between the materiality and the symbolic content of his works is evident, as he ventures into different media that he considers tools but not ends. He has approached different media such as engraving, drawing, painting, video, photographic reductions and installation.
Miguel Angel Rojas has been a vital reference for Contemporary Art in Colombia and Latin America, being a precursor in techniques and themes still in force and which he continues to approach with acuity.
