Liliana García

Liliana García is a visual artist whose primary focus is exploring the complex relationships between space, objects, and bodies with physical impairments. Through her work, García questions our understanding of the unique challenges and perspectives faced daily by people with disabilities, using art as a personal quest that allows her to see the world through her eyes and her physical impairment.

Her work invites us to confront the reality of objects whose practical use seems as illogical and impossible as if they were built for other bodies. This personal process actively engages the viewers, inviting them to look again and again inside and outside of themselves. What is familiar to us loses its usual functionality and becomes a portal to a world perceived through other eyes.

This artistic exploration underscores the importance of recognizing and valuing the diversity of human experiences. It reminds us that each perspective enriches our collective understanding of the world by challenging our ingrained perceptions, thus opening new avenues of understanding and empathy. Liliana García's work inspires the creation of objects and spaces that challenge established norms and expectations, redefining the concept of normalization in contemporary society in this way.
