The work stems from the sex chromosomes XX and XY and brings them into the language of textile. From the “XX” stitch—associated with domestic, feminized practices such as embroidery—Diez develops a stitch of her own: “XY.” This gesture proposes a symbolic crossing in which differences are not erased but linked, echoing the shared genetic structure of chromosomes and questioning the gender divisions that shape forms of labor.

The embroidery is made on construction netting, a material associated with rough, masculinized labor and the direct intervention of space. Designed to cover, isolate, and contain, the plastic netting acts as a symbolic barrier. It suggests a distance between men and their femininity, while also pointing to the impact of industry on nature, often associated with the feminine as a source of origin, care, and life.
