The Bancolombia Art Gallery, located in the center of Bogotá, opened its doors to the exhibition “Llovizna”, a collection by Colombian artist Ana González. The exhibition, which can be visited until February 2025, seeks to explore the relationship between society and the representative ecosystems of Colombia, especially the moors.
Ana González presents works inspired by the Chingaza moorland, a natural space in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. The artist highlights the importance of these ecosystems and the need to reflect on their protection.
“This exhibition is very special for me because I have not exhibited in Bogotá for eight years, the place where I was born, my home. That is why I wanted to pay tribute to the mountains, to the moors that are next to the capital. Chingaza, my inspiration for the paintings, is behind the mountains. It is a tribute and a debt that I had with the city that gave me everything in the first years of life and study, and it is a way of saying ‘thank you’,” González said in a statement.
The exhibition includes pieces such as “Serranías del Dios de la Noche,” which combines crescent-shaped textiles, and “Monte y laguna,” which represents a landscape that dissolves into threads. Also featured are the “Racimo” ceramics and the “Flora de Agua” paintings, which highlight the connection between plants and the health of water.
The exhibition was curated by Rafael Londoño, who mentioned that: “through the evocative power of art, González seeks to awaken action and awareness, reminding us of our responsibility to protect these vital ecosystems.”
A sound element accompanies the exhibition, evoking the sounds of nature and contrasting with the urban landscape.
“In life there is an excess of masculine force, and my work may seem fragile or delicate, but that is part of the feminine universe. Within that femininity there is also a very powerful message. My work is precisely about that: the awakening of feminine strength and the creative and inspiring power that we carry within,” the artist stressed.
The exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. The Bancolombia Art Gallery is located on the 4th floor of the Atrio Tower, Calle 28 No. 13A-75 in Bogotá.
