Miami is set to host an extraordinary event at the upcoming Progressive Art Brunch on Sunday, July 14th, from 9am to 6pm. One of the highlights of the day will be the performance "How High?" by Peruvian artist Iván Sikic, who is based in Miami.

Born in Lima in 1983, Iván Sikic brings a powerful narrative to his performance art, particularly through "How High?". This performative action explores the immigrant experience in the United States. Over the course of nine hours—symbolizing the nine years Sikic has lived in the US—the artist and three migrant collaborators will inflate red, white, and blue balloons inside the gallery. By the end of the performance, the space will be filled with balloons representing the colors of the US flag, all inflated by the breath of Sikic and his collaborators. This immersive work invites viewers to reflect on the effort and resilience behind the migration process, which, while appearing festive and enjoyable, underscores deeper themes of struggle and perseverance.

Sikic’s artistic statement, "My whole body of work is against oppression and greed," resonates deeply through this performance, promising a thought-provoking experience for all attendees.

Join us for this artistic event and visit the other Miami galleries participating in the Progressive Art Brunch, offering a day of art and culture under the beautiful Miami sun.
