Adam Goldstein

Adam Goldstein's work transcends the purely visual by capturing the infinite within the finite. Inspired by the purest forms of 20th-century abstraction, he manipulates light and color to shape the ethereal dimension of the abstract, creating dynamic layers that merge mysterious depth with obvious surface. Goldstein uses color as an intermediary between these complex layers, revealing, through interaction with changing light, a poetic moment accessible to the viewer.

Goldstein specializes in oil painting, employing a unique technique that allows him to experiment randomly in pursuit of the supremacy of the flat plane. His approach harmonizes the saturation of his palette, transforming it into a light body that oscillates with waves of light. The layering of colors, the subtle blurring of strokes, and the indeterminacy between hues create threshold points, producing the illusion of invisible painting and a sensorial, immaterial experience that carefully guides the viewer.

The rhythmic application and distribution of dense layers of paint give each work the quality of a dance that moves back and forth across the canvas. In this dance of light and color, the viewer's gaze crosses the material dimension and connects with the intangible.

"Color plays a very interesting role in the brain, linking the rational and analytical with the emotional. When there is a balance between the rational communication of how these elements are distributed in the painting, it reflects in our emotional, contemplative, and meditative aspects. These are paintings that don’t reveal their intention directly or primarily. I believe you have to sit, observe, and see what happens within them.”
