Sebastián Guzmán Díaz
Sebastián Guzmán Díaz is an artist and engineer whose works explore the relationship between technology, nature, and territory, challenging notions of progress and civilization. With a background in Physical and Mechanical Engineering from EAFIT University and a Master's degree in Renewable Energies from EOI in Madrid, Sebastián adopts a transdisciplinary approach integrating technical and scientific knowledge in his artistic practice. His interest in breaking down and analyzing world phenomena leads him to create pieces examining extractivist dynamics and neoliberal capitalism, proposing alternatives for coexistence and rethinking our relationship with the environment.
His artistic projects use symbolic materials that generate tensions between the organic and the technological, questioning the limits between nature and human constructions. Guzmán has presented his work in multiple art spaces in Colombia, such as the Museo de Antropología y Arte de Jericó and the Centro Cultural Vásquez in Medellín. He was recently awarded the Meritorious Distinction of the University of Antioquia, and in 2024, he participated in the SACO Biennial in Antofagasta, Chile.
