Luisa Pastor is an artist whose work arises from the questioning of language and the crisis of its meaning. Through her work, she explores the fissures of the sign, particularly in economic terminology, investigating the point at which words and things cease to coincide. Working against the organic nature of the traditional artwork, she recovers the poetic and political capacity of the fragment through a critical questioning of the denotative force of words, thereby demonstrating the internal limits of the play of representation. In this way, she constructs fictional universes through humor and irony, inviting reflection on the frames of reference that structure the material reality of the contemporary world. Her work articulates structuralist and poststructuralist thought with reflections on systems of production and value. 

Through collage and assemblage—her principal deconstructive and conceptual tools—in compositions made from accounting sheets, administrative documents, and economic records, Pastor deactivates the rational order that structures discourse, transforming the functional into aesthetic experience and economic value into symbolic value. Fragmentation, reiteration, and absence operate as gestures of resistance against the logic of equivalence and exchange. Each fragment retains the memory of a system—linguistic or financial—that the artist puts into crisis, transforming numbers, errors, income, assets, or liabilities into aesthetic and subversive dimensions. At times, she replaces accounting script with 24-karat gold or 999 fine  silver, materials that embody the volatility of value, their symbolic fascination, and their craft tradition. 

She studied Fine Arts at the Universidad de Granada and holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Universidad Miguel Hernández in Alicante. Her projects include 24K. Escrituras de la diferencia, Galería La Cometa, Madrid (2024); Cuerpos de fábrica, Sala El Cub, MUA (2019); Debe/Haber/Saldo, Galería Nordés, Coruña, (2018); and her participation in the group exhibition Paper Routes–Women to Watch, National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), Washington, D.C. (2020). She has held several grants, notably the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at UNAM in Mexico City under the mentorship of Cuauhtémoc Medina. Her work forms part of important Spanish collections, including the Colección DKV, Fundación OTAZU, the Contemporary Art  Collection of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Instituto Alicantino de Cultura Gil-Albert, and the Colección MICA.
