The MAT in collaboration with the Government of Tolima, will be the stage for an expected inauguration: the exhibition "Juan Cárdenas Arroyo, painting and drawing, freedom of expression."
The exhibition will offer the public a retrospective of the work of the master Juan Cárdenas Arroyo, an emblematic figure in the world of art and journalism.
About the artist
Juan Cárdenas Arroyo, born in Popayán in 1939, emigrated to the United States in 1947, where he studied fine arts and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in 1962. His life was marked by various experiences, including his military service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to Colombia in 1965, he ventured into journalism, standing out as a political cartoonist in media such as El Tiempo, El Espacio and Flash magazine, until 1972.
