Mother of Time at the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium
20 of October 2021
We congratulate Fernando Pinto for his project selected among more than 408 applications to the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium (TISS) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 10 to December 6, 2021. Pinto's sculptural pieces reflect his interest in similarities that can be found between ancient and primitive concepts and the most advanced scientific discoveries. Mother of Time or Madre del Tiempo is a piece inspired by the object world of the indigenous cultures of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in which it is believed that very small stones with shapes similar to beads were made by the metes of their distant ancestors. and that these are the bearers of the cultural concept of time. "Time is circular on both sides (like a doughnut) and it's always happening. It never starts, it never ends and it's being reborn over and over again.
