With the support of the La Cometa Gallery, the Granitos de Paz Foundation organized the Granitos de Paz 2024 Auction, which brings together works by 57 artists of great international recognition. This will take place on Wednesday, August 28 at the La Cometa Gallery, Bogotá, starting at 6:00 p.m. The works will be on display for six days, starting on Thursday, August 22 of the same month.

International artists such as Silvia Rivas from Argentina, who is currently exhibiting at Mambo, Marjetica Potrč from Slovenia, who will soon carry out a project at the Sala Fragmentos, and Colombian masters with an outstanding international career such as Álvaro Barrios, Beatriz González, Miguel Ángel Rojas, Danilo Dueñas, María Elvira Escayón who exhibits at MAMU museum of the Bank of the Republic among others, converge with younger artists with contemporary proposals, such as Leyla Cárdenas, Adrián Gaitán, Rosario López, Miler Lagos, Carlos Castro, Luis Roldán, María Isabel Rueda, Camila Barreto, María Morales, Johan Samboni, who have been chosen under the meticulous selection made by the visual artist, cultural manager and curator Catalina Sanint, who since 2000 has coordinated charity auctions.

With the presence of Auctioneer Nicolás Jaramillo, more than 60 representative works of the most fascinating contemporary plastic art will be auctioned, with prices for different budgets and affordable to the market, as well as for knowledgeable collectors, so that all interested parties can contribute to the Granitos de Paz Foundation continuing its mission of great social impact in Cartagena de Indias.

The Granitos de Paz Foundation is an organization committed to social transformation in Cartagena de Indias and the Colombian Caribbean. Since its creation, 20 years ago, they have worked to improve the quality of life of families living in extreme poverty through their Comprehensive Recovery Model that focuses on the family under five pillars: education; training and income generation; health and family planning; sports and culture; and housing and the environment.

During its history, the foundation has managed to benefit more than 100,000 people; This allows them to consolidate the results of the different programs they implement by 2024, such as academic reinforcement, senior citizens at the San Pancracio Club, young people from the Fabio Echeverri Correa educational fund, Productive Patios, in which 95% are women; the participation of children in different sports disciplines such as athletics, basketball, soccer, taekwondo, plastic arts, dance and educational institutions; and finally, maintaining the coverage of the Granitos de Paz Learning Center with children between 0 and 5 years old and nursing and pregnant mothers.

Catalina Sanint, cultural manager and plastic artist, who has been organizing this type of auctions with a social sense since 2000, says “it is very pleasant to coordinate these projects, it is a way to contribute and put in a Grain of Sand, a Grain of Peace. I was fascinated by the Model they implement at the Foundation because by providing transversal support to the community, in COLECTIVO the entire community progresses, they live it, they feel better and there is hope.”

This translates into programs where the youngest children are in school, children and young people who are in school, in the other day they do cultural activities of art, dance, sports and school support; young people who have been involved in drug addiction and prostitution are given professional support, mothers with the Productive Patios program improve their income and the quality of their housing and they sell their products as they consume them, and for the elderly they have activity programs and they are not isolated or burdens to their families. The support is very powerful and that is how it is seen in the community.

As for the challenge of coordinating the Auction, I enjoy the selection of artists and works, reunions and new proposals that the artists are working on, in order to bring the works to those who collect and those who want to support, so that ART and its function are appreciated, what Art tells us. The curatorship decided to give visibility to ceramics as a medium that is not just artisanal, and took into account criteria of quality and presence in the national and international art scene, as well as proposals from young and intermediate artists and a diversity of techniques and prices for all tastes and budgets. In addition to contributing to a social cause, we give back and are grateful for much of what life has given us.”
